Tim Pedal Review- Greatest Guitar pedal Ever.

I've been using theTim Pedal
for about 16 years. It's the best guitar pedal out there. I know, cause I've tried them all.

From ACDC, to Van Halen, to Jazz, to Phil Collins, to 80s Funk - the Tim pedal does it all. This distortion pedal is the big brother to the Timmy Pedal. The Tim and the Timmy are both made by this cool guy named Paul Cochrane, but MXR now manufactures a version of this pedal that sounds excellent. Paul Cochrane really knows his stuff. These pedals are what are known as 'transparent overdrives'. That's fancy talk for a pedal that doesn't impart it's own characteristics to the sound. Now, I feel that every pedal does this. Even the Tim. But the Tim is way more transparent than almost every other pedal. Interestingly, it's the pedals ability to SUBTRACT that makes it unique. The pots on the Tim work in the opposite fashion of normal pots. That means, you use the treble and bass in the opposite direction. You subtract highs and lows, and in effect also subtract different aspects of overdrive. Paul explains (I believe) that this enables him to use the full range of the pots. I'm not sure if I explained that clearly. Just try out the pedal and you'll see what I mean.

The 15th anniversary Timmy is also a nice pedal. That's my second favorite in this line up. I've never tried the MXL timmy. So basically, the Tim is my ultimate. I own 2 or three of those. Then the 15th anniversary is my favorite. Paul even gave me one before they were released as a gift, and in return he asked me to give him some feedback. I told him it was just a great pedal! Cause it is. It doesn't a few things better than the TIM in fact. But I like having the to buttons on the Tim pedal. And I think that the Tim is even more transparent.

In the video above I try to demonstrate how the Tim pedal is the best guitar pedal of all time. I used it all day in a marathon recording session. I even show you how NOT to use this pedal. Learn from my MISTAKES! Push your amp a little bit. Don't try to get all your gain from this pedal and push it way too high. That's not the sound you want.

Anyhow, this is my holy grail pedal. Highly highly recommended.
