Mixing Major and Minor Pentatonic

What are the rules to this blending major and minor blues?

In this video, I'll explain to a super easy approach for blending major and minor pentatonic over the blues. The trick is knowing when to play which chord. And yes, there are rules to this. Over the 1 chord, you can use major, and the rest of the time use minor! This is a generalization, and this is just one approach, but remembering this is the first step to getting that blended sound.


There is the super simple way of blending your pentatonics (moving one shape around), and then there's the more complicated approach of playing two pentatonics in one position. In this video, I'll show you some tips and also some common issues students have.

Do you ever wonder why it sounds weird when you play major pentatonic over the blues? The reason is probably because you're not sliding into your major thirds. That's a really big deal. It's important to understand how to do this, and it's easier to explain it in a video than it is in writing.
